energy and the most urgent for the president, gun control. joining us now, jim vandenhike. so we got done with the first term. bipartisanship towards the end, incredible. any reason why that will change? >> zero. >> okay. >> i would love to be optimistic. i think we should be slamming the blacken ambers they serve up here as you think about the next four years. largely because we already saw in the last two months in the lame duck how the next two years will unfold. and that is a republican congress and a zero interest in doing the obama agenda and a president who has zero interest in the republican agenda. i look at the first 100 days as the 100 days from hell. he has to deal with sequestration, whether or not we lift the debt limit and whether we continue to fund the government at the current spending levels. then he's going to try to do gun control. you look broadly and say something's changed with the public. i think that's true. you see some movement towards more support for gun control. >> let's talk specifics. let's go through each of these as we go throughout the next four years.
this for future generations. they sense that this is history and it is, indeed, history. jim acosta is right in front of the presidential limousine. jim, tell uss what you're seeing. i think he's making a right turn on to 15th street, is that right? >> that's right, he's making that right turn on to 15th street. where that meets the white house. and we're hopeful here. can't guarantee it. but one thing you could say, wolf, it's good to be the president. it's almost like being a rock star on every street corner in washington. every time he hits a new intersection, the cheers go up on both sides of pennsylvania avenue. it's just a whole new group of americans to greet as he makes his way to the white house. i have to tell you, it's been pretty exciting to watch all of this unfold from the back of this flat bed truck. every so often you catch a glimpse inside the limousine. when he's inside, sort of bathed in that light, he's waving to people, and you just kind of get that image. that image of history as it's unfolding right in front of us here. >> hey, jim, i think you're breaking up a little

-year high. but what's ahead? joining me now is economic policy correspondent for "the washington post," jim tankersley. good morning. >> good morning, chris. >> let's look at what tim geithner did. took a lead on revamping the financial rules. negotiated with congressional leaders on the budget and raising the debt limit. oversaw the t.a.r.p. bailout of companies that included citigroup, general motors. a headline from "the washington post" posts, tim geithner's legacy, an unpopular bailout that helped save the economy. is he leaving a much stronger economy than he came in with? >> well, assuredly, the economy is much better today than it was when tim geithner and barack obama first took office. i think geithner's legacy is in particular going to be linked very much with the financial system. when they came in, we were in this free-fall and the financial crisis and the great recession and geithner really was the head of the administration's efforts to stabilize things. and they did. the system stabilized. we did not have another great depression. and tim geithner gets a lot of credit for th
